The Chairman of the Board of Taxation, Mr Dick Warburton AO, today announced the release of a discussion paper on the Board’s post-implementation review of recommendations made by the Tax Design Review Panel.
This review arises from the Government’s acceptance in principle of the 26 recommendations made in the Tax Design Review Panel’s report Better Tax Design and Implementation . The report was released by the then Assistant Treasurer on 22 August 2008.
Recommendation 26 of the Tax Design Review Panel’s report, noted that:
The Government should ask the Board of Taxation to review the tax design process after two years and report to Government on the extent to which there are demonstrated improvements.
This discussion paper has been developed to facilitate public consultation on the Board’s review.
The Board welcomes submissions on issues raised in the discussion paper and any other matters relevant to the scope of review. The closing date for submissions is Monday 28 March 2011. Submissions may be sent to:
